FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
 
1. What kind of lessons are offered?
We offer both private and group lessons. Our lessons schedule is divided into sessions ranging from 4 to 8 lessons. Participants must be able to commit to an entire Session. The cost per lesson is set at a reasonable rate and scholarship is available. Please contact us regarding cost, payment options, and scholarship qualifications.
 
2. Who can participate?
We are currently accepting participant applications from individuals age 4 years old to adult. Anyone with physical, behavioral, and developmental challenges may participate as a rider. Parents, siblings, and others who are interested in our program may participate in a number of other capacities as a volunteers.
 
3. What skills are taught during lessons?
Lessons are tailored to the needs of each individual. We are willing to work with parents, teachers, doctors and other professionals to develop a program that best serves each student. A typical lesson might include work on riding skills, activities and games, trail rides and care of the horse. All of these activities will improve the rider's balance and strength.
 
4. Who teaches lessons?
Lessons at Leg Up are taught by NARHA Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructors.
 
5. What is NARHA?
The North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA) was formed in 1969 as a regulatory agency that assures stringent standards for quality therapeutic horseback riding through instructor certification, site accreditation, and program monitoring. Leg Up is a NARHA member in good standing.
